« Ouno (pronounced « OO-no ») makes one-of-a-kind and limited-edition decor accessories – bags and fashion accessories for men and women, pillows, bedding, throws & blankets, floor cushions, rugs and wall hangings, sculptural objects and conversation pieces. Virtually all of our soft furnishings and accessories are « upcycled » from vintage materials and are hand-constructed in Vancouver, B.C. Our highest-quality vintage materials include antique and modern Japanese cottons and linens, mod 1960s and ’70s European graphic prints, rough wool weaves, certain early synthetics, midcentury-modern woven textiles, and sheepskin etc. reclaimed from vintage coats. « Upcycling » is the recycling of older materials for newer, more deluxe purposes. On rare occasions we also use new organically produced textiles such as bamboo, hemp and organic cotton. »

Check their website for others nice sinks made out of concrete with a strong commitment to the environnement:
« Besides maximizing the green qualities of concrete, we strive to make all of our materials and processes as environmentally friendly as possible. We use water-based sealers, so our countertops and sinks don’t become sources of VOC pollution in your home or business. We use pigments that are free of heavy metals. We put recycled materials and industrial byproducts to work, using fly ash, for example, to cut down on our need for new materials and to reduce the portland content of our pieces. These innovations not only utilize materials that would otherwise end up in landfills, but also greatly diminish the CO2 generated during the production of portland cement. »

Amazing house from brazilian architect Marcio Kogan.
From the outside, when the brises (and the front wall, which follows the same language) are closed, it´s impossible to distinguish the openings, and all wooden surfaces make up a pure single volume, without bumps. When these brises are opened, the house looks like a large wood folding.

« UMs developed from two creative challenges: The first, to make use of the unique properties of pressed wool felt – its density, texture, pliability, and strength. And the second, to transform a flat surface using only the simplest of operations. When unzipped, UMs lay completely flat for dry cleaning, storage, or travel. »

« The initial idea of this art project was, to present an imaginative and decorative view of the inside of the human body. An important aspect during the project development was, to express the different faces of life until death and the transitoriness of individuals. My reflections concerning the preciousness of human life are always linked to thoughts of momentariness and the unique human conditions hence resulting. To realise this concept, I used the Electroforming-technology, in order to express the thin-skinned and the vulnerability of human organs. I developed objects with fictive, dynamic and organic appearance. The shapes and the surfaces describe different conditions of growths, mutations, sickness and the limitations of the human body. The material I used for this work is silver, dyed in different colours. As a result, I produced a number of pendants and brooches. »
