Arthur Erickson – architect

Arthur Erickson (1924 – 2009) certainly was one of the greatest canadian (if not north-american) architect of last century. Here are some examples of his work but you definetly should take a deep look at this website.

The Grand Daddy Hotel – Trailer Park

Cape Town design studio Whatiftheworld directed this amazing penthouse trailer park hotel project.
7 vintage Airstream trailers were hoisted onto the roof of the Grand Daddy Hotel on Long Street. WITW invited then local artists and designers to design and decorate the interior of one of these trailer.

The two-person Airstreams are situated neatly around the rooftop bar, which is open for afternoon drinks to guests and just the plain curious alike.

Rooms in the hotel start at only 945 rands ($90)

Juvet Landscape hotel

Basically each room is a detached small independent house with one, or sometimes two of the walls constructed in glass. The landscape in which these rooms are placed is by most people considered spectacularly beautiful and varied and the topography allows a layout where no room looks at another.

In this way every room gets its own surprising view of a dramatic piece of landscape, always changing with the weather and the time of the day and the season.
