Canapo Rocking Chair
Reedition of the Canapo rocking by Cassina in the Maestri Collection – Designed by Franco Albini
The project dates back to 1945 and thanks to Cassina’s faithful reproduction, retains its topicality and expressive power by respecting the philosophy and spirit of the original concept. The drawings of the Canapo rocking chair, stored in the archives of the Fondazione Franco Albini, were the subject of detailed analysis and study. This methodological approach is one that Cassina has followed for every single piece in the “Cassina I Maestri” collection, seeking out original documents and prototypes and liaising with the heirs of the designers and their official foundations.
Canapo fully expresses the quest for balance in Franco Albini’s work. The analytical decomposition of the object, one of the designer’s stylistic codes, opens it up perfectly to serial production, in complete harmony with Cassina. The result is a light and airy furnishing solution, an invitation to relax. The curved line dominates the design with emphasis placed on the joining elements. The structure and lateral arches, in natural or stained black ash and mahogany-tinted walnut, demonstrate fully Cassina’s mastery of carpentry, highlighting the company’s unparalleled excellence in combining craft traditions with cutting-edge technology.
The supporting fabric in ecru is attached using cords that form a graphic motif along the sides, while the cushion in polyurethane foam, upholstered in leather or fabric, is divided into foldable modules. An authentic piece of design culture, with the inimitable quality, precision and passion of Cassina. »

Sculptures to be worn – Jewels
By Gualti
« Jewels and ornaments in a rainbow spectrum, apparently fragile or difficult to wear, but in reality as supple and lightweight as feathers. The pins rest on shoulders like fanciful flowers just blossomed, the pendants caress necklines like shimmering drops of water, the swirls of vibrant filaments encircle necks like sparkling rings of pearly dew, rigid chokers shoot forth long and sinuous pistils like exotic tropical blooms blowing in a sea breeze. The entire body is willingly captured, dressed, and transformed by these organic sculpture-jewels that Gualti defines as extensions of the body. The universe of Gualti continues with the creation of his stoles : Silks, organza, taffetas, and anything else that can be wrapped around the body like a cocoon. »

Cantilever chairs
By Italian designer Alessandro Andreucci and German designer Christian Hoisl for EMU
« The Cantilever series springs from the idea of a chair made entirely in steel with a cantilever structure, combining the company’s manufacturing tradition with its vocation toward experimental design. The result is an extremely comfortable chair, which gives an oscillating effect, almost as if gently rocking whoever sits in it. The lightness and transparency of the structure led to the developing of a complete line: chairs, in the armchair and low armchair versions, a large rectangular table and a lounger. The chairs are completed with cushions in the new Emu outdoor fabrics (solid color and stripes) providing the greatest comfort in use and a pleasing aesthetic detail. »
